Happy Thanksgiving

As I think about the meaning behind Thanksgiving and reflect on all that has happened with VAP over the last two years, I am so grateful to all the people who have given so much of their time to make this organization successful and have believed how important it is to bring the voice of veteran artists to the mainstream creative arts community.  This time of year is not only about giving "thanks" but about reflecting, especially for veterans.  As a Veteran Service Organization (VSO), this is one of our busiest times of the year where everyone steps up and gives every ounce of energy available to accomplish the mission.

We just completed our 2nd Annual Veterans Day Show at The Creative Alliance and are in the midst of a tour of Telling: Baltimore, MD. We are also part of Operation: Oliver, an aggressive community service project in Baltimore City led by The 6th Branch, our sister organization. We recently partnered with Metabolic Studios from Los Angeles to hoist a 80x50 foot flag in front of the U.S. Capital building on 11/11/11 and are excited to continuing working with the Annenberg Foundation in DC in 2012.

It is amazing how far we have come in the last two years and I will be taking some time on this blog to recap some of the major players and organizations that have been instrumental in VAP's success to date. 2012 is going to be a big year with potential partnerships with Graffiti of War (GoW), George Mason University, Georgetown University, The 6th Branch, Metabolic Studios, The Annenberg Foundation, and many more.

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and please take the time to say "Thank You" to at least one person in your life who has made a difference to you.  Also, let's make sure to remember and thank all our military and civilian folks who are deployed this holiday season.  We wish you all a Happy Holiday and a safe return home.
