VAP World Blog - 5th Installment

It was impossible to cram the whole Exeter Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) "Once A Warrior" art show into my blog last week, so i am adding onto it. Plus there are new aspects that were not yet available on opening night. Since my next blog takes me back to the "mainland", in Holland, south of Amsterdam, I wanted to complete the Exeter show now.

VAP World Blog - 3rd Installment

I have been in Germany for over a week now. In speaking with the German people in Munich, Cologne and Berlin one thing is apparent - no one wants to talk about Veterans, war or anything related.  As in Italy, there has not been a lot of German involvement in foreign conflicts since WW ll; some in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq.

VAP World Blog - 2nd Installment

I am here in Roma very near the Colosseum interviewing Italian filmmaker Marco Curti. Marco is a warm, engaging individual which serves him well. Since he is easy to speak with he easily draws out people's stories without intruding into their privacy.  His respect for the Veterans he interviews is shrouded with empathy. He understands how emotional these stories are. I experienced his sense of warmth and openness as I interviewed him.

VAP World Blog

My name is Kathleen and for the next 3 months I will be traveling through Italy, Germany, France and England visiting, interviewing, photographing, and blogging about veteran artists. I will visit shows, people/places of interest and organizations who are engaged with veterans who “own” their creative side.
