VAP Happy Hour Fundraiser for Yellow Ribbon Fund

Event Information:

The DC Ramblers (DC-area alumni group for Loyola University Chicago), in conjunction with The Veteran Artist Program (http://www.veteranartistprogram.org/), will be hosting a happy hour as a fundraiser for the Yellow Ribbon Fund, an organization that works with injured American service-members and their families.

This happy hour fundraiser will take place at Bar Louie (7th and G NW-Chinatown/Gallery Place metro stop) on Thursday, May 13th. The cover is $25, but this gets you two drinks (which includes some top shelf liquor) and appetizers. Ten dollars from the cover will go directly to YRF. We'll start at 6pm, but you can show up at any time. Also, this is an open event, so feel free to invite anyone, even if they are not Loyola alums. This is a great cause, so if you can, you really should come out! If you plan on attending, please RSVP here.

If you are unable to attend, please consider donating to the YRF: http://www.yellowribbonfund.org/?page_id=147

-- More info on the Yellow Ribbon Fund:

The Yellow Ribbon Fund was created in early 2005 to assist our injured service members and their families while they recuperate at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center. Our mission began when the father of an injured Marine introduced two of our volunteers to staff at Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval and they told us what needs were not met by other donors.

In five years contributions made through the Yellow Ribbon Fund have provided the following for injured service members and their families: over 1,100 free rental cars spanning 49,000 free rental car days; over 16,000 free taxi rides; over 7,300 free hotel room nights; and 46 families have used our four apartments for almost 6,000 nights; and hundreds of free tickets to sporting games, concerts and plays, and hundreds of lunches, dinners, golf games, duck and goose hunts, fishing trips, and other activities.
